The Tulbagh is centrally-located and conveniently placed to explore the town with its historic Church Street and many other attractions and amenities.

The main hotel building dates from 1859 & offers a range of contemporary-styled luxurious rooms. The Winterhoek Manor (1813) and the Toll House (1809), opposite the hotel, are two of the heritage properties in Church Street, offering charming period rooms. Tulbagh is just over an hour’s drive from Cape Town, nestled at the foot of the Witzenberg, Winterhoek and Obiqua Mountains in the heart of the Cape Winelands.

A range of speciality teas and coffees, milkshakes, freshly squeezed juices, scones and freshly baked cakes are available throughout the day. Open daily from 7am until 10pm, so call in anytime, even if it's just for a coffee or glass of wine, you are assured of a warm welcome.

The Karee Wine Bar offers local draught beers, craft gin cocktails and a wide selection of local wines. There is a tapas menu, with a South African influence, and gourmet pizzas from the wood fired oven.

The Olive Terrace Bistro offers ΰ la carte breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. As our emphasis is on sourcing local fresh seasonal produce, the menu changes weekly, and is an eclectic celebration of South African and international cuisine, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. The bistro has cosy fireplaces for winter, and a beautiful terrace and courtyard for summer al fresco dining.

The exclusive Honeymoon Suite is the idyllic romantic retreat. Old world charm under a thatched roof with all the modern comforts and many unique features!

This spacious suite is air conditioned, has a four-poster bed, lounge area with fireplace, cable TV and surround sound music system. Dressing area, luxurious shower and bath with second fireplace in the bathroom.

Named after the mountains to the west of Tulbagh, this heritage suite is part of the Toll House annex, circa 1809. An eclectic blend of wooden floors, beamed ceilings, chandeliers and four poster bed, with air conditioning, fireplace, cable TV, Bluetooth NFC sound bar and Wi-Fi.

There is a romantic bath for two, large bespoke shower and twin wash basins.

The Saronsberg Suite is situated in the Hotel, has an extra length king/twin size bed and comfortable arm chairs. The spacious bathroom has a bath for 2, large bespoke shower and twin basins. Standard with all our suites are air conditioning, fireplace, cable TV, Bluetooth NFC sound bar and Wi-Fi. Relax on your private deck with spectacular views of the Saronsberg Mountain.

Sugarbush Protea is located in our heritage Winterhoek Manor (1813), opposite the main hotel building. Stroll out into the indigenous garden with pool, leading onto historic Church Street.

This charming period room features an extra length king size four-poster bed adorned with fine cotton linen, comfortable arm chairs, chandeliers and traditional yellowwood floor and beamed ceiling. The luxurious bathroom has a large bath and separate shower. Contemporary features include air conditioning, cable TV and Wi-Fi.

The three contemporary Protea Rooms are located in the main hotel building.

The luxurious air conditioned rooms, feature extra length king size or twin beds, fine cotton linen, and two additionally have sofa beds, ideal for parents with young children.

All Protea rooms have baths and showers for two and include air conditioning, cable TV and Wi-Fi.

Child Policy:
For the purposes of this policy an infant is under the age of 2, and a child is age 2-17 inclusive. There is no charge for an infant using a cot. The hotel does not provide cots. We have 2 rooms which can additionally accommodate a maximum of 2 children on sofa beds: King Protea, Snow Protea and the Honeymoon Suite. There is a charge of R200 per child per night. This rate includes breakfast.

1.Take the N1, northbound, from Cape Town towards Paarl.
2.Exit the N1 at junction 47, onto R44 signposted Wellington/Stellenbosch. Turn left at the off ramp junction towards Wellington.
3.Continue on R44 towards Wellington. Straight ahead at 4 way stop,
4.After about 5km’s turn left at a set of traffic lights into Distillery Road – this is a continuation of the R44.
5.The R44 branches off towards Gouda. The road becomes the R46, continue straight ahead on the R46 towards Ceres.
6.2km after passing through the Nuwe Kloof Pass, turn left signposted Tulbagh.
7. Continue until reaching a 4 way junction. Turn left into the main road – Van der Stel Street
8.The hotel is half way down the street on the right hand side next to Standard Bank.
(N.B. Please note that the roads are all tarred from Cape Town)

2.Exit N7 at the Malmesbury off ramp to your left. Turn left at first junction, heading into the town.
3.Pass the silos on your right, and at the second set of traffic lights turn left.
4. After 300m turn right signposted R46 Ceres and Riebeek Kasteel.
5. Continue on the R46, passing Riebeek Kasteel. At the junction with the R44 in Hermon, turn left towards Ceres.
6. Follow the signs for Ceres. The road number becomes the R46 again.
7.2km after passing through the Nuwe Kloof Pass, turn left signposted Tulbagh.
8. Continue until reaching a 4 way junction. Turn left into the main road – Van der Stel Street
9.The hotel is half way down the street on the right hand side next to Standard Bank.
